The University of Miami’s Mindfulness Research and Practice Initiative (UMindfulness) is an inter-disciplinary collaboration across the University of Miami that brings together cutting-edge brain research and contemplative training (mindfulness and compassion training). Our contemplative training programs are offered in nonsectarian, accessible, and innovative ways to optimize performance, enhance wellness, and promote resilience. Over the past six years, the UMindfulness Initiative has engaged with thousands of attendees through our Lecture Series, workshops, and retreats.

Dr. Jha’s research focuses on the brain bases of attention, working memory, and mindfulness training. With grants from the US Department of Defense and several private foundations, her current projects investigate how to best promote resilience in high-stress cohorts using contemplative training techniques that strengthen the brain’s attention networks.

Professor Rogers is a leader in the area of mindfulness and the law and works with law school faculty and administrators across the country interested in developing mindfulness classes and programs. He is the Director of the Mindfulness in Law Program at the University of Miami School of Law.

Assistant Director of Programs and Training
Maria Paula is a Certified Compassion Cultivation Teacher by the Center for Compassion and Altruism and Research and Education (CCARE) at Stanford’s School of Medicine. She has trained over 700 people in Colombia, Chile, Mexico, and Spain. She is currently a Mindfulness and Compassion Trainer in the Laboratory of Dr. Amishi Jha.
